Jakarta (ANTARA) – Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that Indonesia is aiming to accelerate the acquisition of strategic technologies through cooperation between the Indonesia Danantara Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara) and Arm Limited, witnessed by President Prabowo Subianto in London, England, on Monday (23 February). “Through this cooperation, Indonesia aims to accelerate the acquisition of strategic technologies, which have long been the foundation for various modern digital innovations,” said the Cabinet Secretary when confirmed by ANTARA on Wednesday. Arm is known to control approximately 96 per cent of chip technology for the global automotive sector and almost 94 per cent of chip designs for data centres and artificial intelligence. In this cooperation, Indonesia will also provide training for 15,000 engineers within the Arm ecosystem so that they can master chip design technology. Teddy said that the cooperation plan will be continued in the development of the next generation of semiconductors or chips, so that Indonesia has capabilities in the field of semiconductors and design. This strategic partnership is also said to mark Indonesia’s step in the global supply chain, in line with the government’s agenda of building national food and energy resilience. “This strategic partnership also marks Indonesia’s step in transforming from a technology consumer to a high-value producer in the global supply chain,” said Teddy. In the series of events, Danantara was represented by the CEO of Danantara, who is also the Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of BKPM, Rosan Perkasa Roeslani. Several ministers, such as the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia, the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, and the Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, also witnessed the signing of the Danantara-Arm framework agreement, accompanying President Prabowo. After the event, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga explained that the partnership was a follow-up to President Prabowo’s direction, which called for independence in the acquisition of national technology, and therefore complements the government’s major agenda of building national food and energy resilience.
