Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya explained how President Prabowo Subianto decides whether to meet world leaders in person or via telephone during international summits and government gatherings. He stated that Prabowo is aware of the priorities for direct meetings or telephone consultations.

“Regarding meetings with other heads of state at specific events,” Teddy said in a video posted by the Cabinet Secretariat’s social media account on Monday, 1 June 2026.

Teddy’s comments addressed suggestions made by former Deputy Foreign Minister Dino Patti Djalal regarding Prabowo’s foreign visits. One of Dino’s points was that some meetings with world leaders could be conducted via telephone.

Teddy explained that President Prabowo’s meetings with world leaders at specific events are deliberate, with decisions based on priority assessments advised by Foreign Minister Sugiono.

“The decision on meetings with other heads of state at events rests with the President and the Foreign Minister’s advice,” Teddy said. “They are the ones who determine priorities—what needs to be prioritised, what can be done in person, and what can be handled via telephone.”

Teddy noted that some of President Prabowo’s meetings with world leaders should be made public, while others should remain confidential. He expressed hope that the government’s diplomatic achievements would not be obscured by unrelated issues.

“All experienced diplomats understand this. It is inappropriate to question these matters further. While we welcome all input, we must not obscure the facts of our accomplishments,” he added.
