Cabinet Secretary and Social Minister discuss opening People's Schools for new academic year

JAKARTA - Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya met with Social Minister Saifullah Yusuf to finalise the opening of People’s Schools for the new academic year beginning July 2026. In an official statement released by the Cabinet Secretariat on Saturday, the meeting took place after the Cabinet Secretary returned from President Prabowo Subianto’s visit to France. The programme aims to provide education, accommodation, healthcare, and decent living conditions for over 45,000 children from low-income families, school dropouts, and those without formal education. Plans to educate approximately 1,000 underprivileged, out-of-school, and street children in Jakarta through 10 People’s Schools were also discussed, including those reviewed last month. Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya emphasised that President Prabowo seeks equal educational opportunities with adequate facilities for all Indonesian children. The government aims to equip every child with the skills and opportunities needed for a better and more prosperous future.
