JAKARTA - President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto appointed the Minister of the Environment Hanif Faisol as Deputy Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs at the State Palace in Jakarta on Monday (27/4/2026).

The appointment was carried out based on Presidential Decree Number 51/P of 2026 concerning the Dismissal and Appointment of Ministers and Deputy Ministers of the Merah Putih Cabinet for the 2024-2029 period.

After the presidential decree was read out, Prabowo administered the oath of office, which was taken by Hanif and the other appointed officials.

Meanwhile, the position of Minister of the Environment vacated by Hanif is now filled by labour figure Jumhur Hidayat.

In addition to Hanif, Prabowo also appointed Jumhur Hidayat as Minister of the Environment, M Qodari as Head of the Government Communication Agency, Dudung Abdurachman as Presidential Chief of Staff, Hasan Nasbi as Special Advisor to the President for Communications, and Abdul Kadir Karding as Head of the Indonesian Quarantine Agency.

Hanif is a bureaucrat also known as the figure behind the Green Revolution initiative, a greening programme during the era of South Kalimantan Governor Sahbirin Noor.

This Bojonegoro-born man once received an extraordinary promotion award in 2019, in recognition of his dedication to preserving the environment.

Before becoming a minister, Hanif served as Director General of Forest and Environmental Planning at the Ministry of Environment and Forestry.
