Cabinet Reshuffle: Only 3 Ministers Retained

Japanese Prime Minister (PM) Sanae Tochichi conducted her first cabinet reshuffle on Thursday (17/9) to maintain government stability ahead of the extraordinary parliamentary session scheduled for 5 October.

In this reshuffle, eight names were retained, seven are new faces, and three others are ministers returning to office. Several of the retained individuals are key ministers serving in the fields of finance, diplomacy, and defence. These include Cabinet Secretary Minoru Kihara, Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi, Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama, Defence Minister Shinjiro Koizumi, Minister of Economic and Fiscal Policy Minoru Kiuchi, and Economic Security Minister Kimi Onoda.
