Cabinet Reshuffle: Jumhur Hidayat Prepares Programme as Minister of Environment
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Labour activist Jumhur Hidayat claims to have prepared priority programmes if he is sworn in as Minister of the Environment by President Prabowo Subianto.
Jumhur stated that the Minister of the Environment has many tasks that must be completed, one of which concerns waste.
“The Minister of Environment and Forestry has many duties and we must work hard to complete them. Oh, there are many; I’ve already prepared. The most pressing one right now is the issue of waste and all that. We also have to keep up with international issues or agreements; we must gradually fulfil them, something like that,” said Jumhur at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Monday (27/4/2026).
He arrived with his wife and child, wearing a black suit and light blue tie, similar to the other figures who were to be sworn in.
Although he already has programmes as Minister of the Environment, Jumhur claimed not to know what position he would hold through this cabinet reshuffle.
“Well, I’m here for the swearing-in. I don’t know what the swearing-in is for yet,” Jumhur said.
Others present included former Head of the Presidential Communications Office Hasan Nasbi, and former Minister for the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers Abdul Kadir Karding.
However, they all consistently refused to answer questions about the positions they would hold.
“Well, yesterday and earlier, I was called by Lieutenant Colonel Teddy, the Deputy Cabinet Secretary, to prepare for the palace at 2:15 for rehearsal, and swearing-in at 3. We’ll see what happens,” said Dudung on a separate occasion.
