C. Java police uncover drug ring

SEMARANG: Police said here on Friday that they had uncovered a drug trafficking network in Central Java province, following the recent arrest of two suspected drug dealers.

The two suspects were identified as Yacub, 23 and Purnomo Adi alias Alex, 25, both residents of Surakarta municipality, said chief of the Central Java police's drug investigation unit Adj. Sr. Comr. Jarot Subroto.

He said that the suspects had confessed to working for Tjik Yang, widely known by local residents as a powerful casino owner.

Yacub, who has long been wanted by the police, was captured on Jl. Tendean in Semarang, while Alex was apprehended shortly after Yacub, Jarot added. --Antara
