C. Java athletes get cash bonus

SEMARANG (JP): Central Java Governor Mardiyanto handed over
cash bonuses on Wednesday evening and also dismissed the Central
Java contingent competing in the 15th National Games in Surabaya
last month.

Each gold medalist received Rp 20 million (US$2,100), a silver
medalist earned each Rp 10 million and a bronze medalist pocketed
each Rp 5 million. Exhibition sports gold medalists each bagged
Rp 1 million, silver medalist got Rp 600,000 and bronze medalist
earned Rp 300,000.

Mardiyanto expressed his satisfaction on his athletes'
performances as they managed to earn more medals compared to the
previous Games in Jakarta in 1996.

Central Java finished fourth this year after collecting 42
golds, 63 silvers and 65 bronzes achieved by 184 athletes. (har)
