SEMARANG (JP): Central Java is targeting seven gold medals in the Java-Bali open track and field circuit to be held at Manahan stadium in Surakarta, Central Java, on April 28 and April 29.

"Central Java will field 25 top athletes including those being groomed for the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games," said the Indonesian Amateur Athletics Association (PASI) Central Java chapter official in charge of coaches, Bambang Siswoyo.

Bambang said the golds were expected from the men's and women's shot put, men's and women's discus throw and men's and women's middle-distance run.

"The tough challenge will come from athletes from Jakarta, East Java, West Java and Yogyakarta," he said on Thursday. (har)
