C. Jakarta to spend Rp 10b for new office

JAKARTA: The Central Jakarta municipality administration will renovate its office at the cost of Rp 10 billion (US$1.05 million).

Head of the administration's general affairs section, Ass'ad Ahmad, said on Tuesday that the renovation would only be for the exterior part of the building, which is located on Jl. Tanah Abang I.

He argued that the 30-year-old ceramic tile walls had deteriorated and were cracking.

The work will be started soon and is scheduled to be completed later this year, he added.

"As for the interior, we are going to propose it in next year's budget. Several parts inside the building already need to be renovated," he said. -- JP
