Yogyakarta newspaper terrorized: Kedaulatan Rakyat daily's main office located on Jl. Mangkubumi in Yogyakarta was shaken by powerful firecrackers that sounded like a bomb early on Wednesday but no serious damage or casualties were reported. A security guard Puguh, who was on duty, said he saw four people on motorcycles enter the office compound and hurl firecrackers toward the building. "Some big firecrackers can cause huge explosions like these ones," he said. The incident did not affect the daily's operation. The local police are apparently still investigating the case. --JP

Forest near Mt. Merapi on fire: A forested area located to the west of Mount Merapi in Magelang regency caught fire on Wednesday. Witnesses in Muntilan, Magelang, said the forest fire was first spotted at 6:30 p.m. local time and the fire was still raging as of 9 p.m. --JP
