JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Chinese automotive manufacturer, BYD, has once again showcased its latest technology for off-road and premium vehicles. This time, it’s through the Denza B8 Flash Charge Edition, which is equipped with the latest active suspension system called Yunnian-P Ultra.

Quoting Carnewschina, Friday (15/5/2026), the technology has become a highlight because it allows the car to remain mobile even if one of the wheels is lifted from the road surface.

In a demonstration conducted at BYD’s off-road testing area, the SUV was seen able to continue moving using three wheels at low speed.

BYD says the Yunnian-P Ultra system has three main functions, namely wheel-lift recovery, wheel-lift tyre replacement, and three-wheel driving.

BYD claims the wheel lifting process takes less than one minute. In the demonstration, the tyre replacement process was said to be completed in 1 minute and 56 seconds.

Not only that, the suspension system is also claimed to be able to support a lifting force of up to 9 tons. BYD also demonstrated the recovery capability when the car was stuck in sand.

The car uses suspension height adjustment to regain traction before getting out of the trap.

The three-wheel driving mode itself is designed for emergency conditions or crossing certain terrains at low speeds. This feature is limited to 15 kph.

In the demonstration shown by BYD, the Denza B8 was able to cross uneven surfaces by lifting a specific wheel so that the underside of the car does not touch the obstacle.

In addition to the new suspension technology, the Denza B8 Flash Charge Edition also received an additional pure electric range of approximately 200 km based on the CLTC standard. The car is also equipped with an updated DiLink 5.0 interior system.

BYD is now increasingly aggressively developing chassis and active suspension technology for its premium vehicle line. In addition to Yunnian-P Ultra, BYD also has the Yunnian-Z system used on the Yangwang U7.

Unlike conventional hydraulic systems, Yunnian-Z uses electromagnetic technology to directly control suspension movement without hydraulic oil. This technology was developed to improve the stability, comfort, and off-road capabilities of the vehicle.
