BYD Unveils Luxury Electric Saloon Seal 08 with 1,000 km Range
Jakarta – BYD has officially introduced its latest model in its electric vehicle line, the Seal 08. This luxury electric saloon was unveiled at the launch event for Blade Battery 2.0 and positioned as one of the company’s flagship models. According to CarnewsChina.com, on Saturday 7 March 2025, the Seal 08 incorporates a range of BYD-developed technologies, including megawatt-scale ultra-fast charging, the second-generation Blade Battery, a rear-wheel steering system, and the DiSus-A intelligent body control system. The front bumper features air channels with ambient star-shaped lighting. On the roof, LiDAR sensors support advanced driver assistance systems. At the rear, the fastback design is a defining feature, with rear lights extending in a flowing wave pattern that reinforces an aesthetic inspired by ocean aesthetics. The car is built on an 800‑volt platform and uses Blade Battery 2.0. The combination is claimed to deliver an all‑electric range of more than 1,000 km. In addition, the embedded rapid charging technology allows the vehicle to add up to 400 km of range in just five minutes. For the all‑wheel‑drive (AWD) variant, maximum power is estimated to exceed 480 kW (about 644 hp), enabling 0‑100 km/h in under five seconds. In terms of the chassis, the Seal 08 features a rear‑wheel steering system to enhance manoeuvrability and the DiSus‑A intelligent body control system. For intelligent driving features, the car is likely to use BYD’s God’s Eye B system (DiPilot 300). BYD says the Seal 08 is scheduled to go on sale in the second quarter of this year. The model is part of the “Ocean 8 Series Dual Flagship” strategy announced by BYD in December 2025, alongside the Sealion 08 SUV which is also expected to be unveiled in the near future.
