BYD Tech-Culture Fest Poster Sparks Controversy, Gerindra Jakarta Apologises
Rani Mauliani, a representative of Gerindra Jakarta, stated that there was an error by the media team regarding a poster featuring the party’s logo in the BYD Tech-Culture Fest event held at the South Parking of Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on 23-24 May 2026. The poster featuring Gerindra’s logo went viral on social media platform X. Rani said in a written response on Sunday (24 May): ‘I am here to represent the party; there may have been a mistake, misunderstanding, or negligence by our media team administrators.’ ‘Therefore, on behalf of myself and as a Gerindra DKI Jakarta Regional Branch official, we sincerely apologise to all parties who felt displeased or uncomfortable due to the commotion,’ she added. Rani, who is Deputy Speaker of the Jakarta Regional House of Representatives (DPRD DKI) for the Gerindra faction, stressed: ‘I assure you there was no ill intent. This was purely an error by the administrators who merely intended to share what they thought was a spectacular event with Jakarta residents for wider awareness.’ She reiterated her apology to the public, particularly Jakarta residents, over the mistake and urged that the matter not be prolonged. ‘We never claimed the event was ours,’ Rani said. ‘We hope the event is successful and that organisers continue to deliver increasingly impressive works in the future,’ she concluded. Meanwhile, BYD Indonesia, via its Instagram account @byd_indonesia, stated that the Tech-Culture Fest was organised independently and not affiliated with any organisation. All event activities were created purely for informative, entertainment, and experiential purposes for participants and attendees. ‘Similarly, all guest performers at the BYD Tech-Culture Fest are not affiliated with any party!’ they wrote.
