BYD Tech Culture Fest Arrives in Bandung, Expanding Electric Vehicle Education in West Java
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG – After earlier editions in Jakarta, Medan, Semarang and Surabaya, PT BYD Motor Indonesia is continuing its BYD Tech Culture Fest (TCF) 2026 series in Bandung. The city is the fifth destination on the agenda, with the event taking place at Paskal 23 Bandung from 15 to 19 July 2026.
The event forms part of BYD’s efforts to broaden education about New Energy Vehicles (NEV) in Indonesia. Through the festival, the public is invited to learn about electric vehicle (EV) and Dual Mode (DM), or hybrid, technology via technology exhibitions, vehicle test drive sessions and community interaction spaces.
Bandung was chosen because it is considered to hold a strategic position in the development of vehicle electrification in West Java. As the provincial capital and a hub of industry, trade, education, the creative economy and tourism, Bandung has high public mobility, making it a relevant place to introduce new energy vehicle technology to the wider public.
BYD’s presence in West Java continues to grow. There are currently more than 10,500 BYD vehicle users in the province, representing around 50 per cent of the West Java electric vehicle market. The service network is supported by 15 showrooms, with a target of expanding to more than 31 showrooms in the future.
Luther T. Panjaitan, Head of Public and Government Relations at PT BYD Motor Indonesia, said the Tech Culture Fest in Bandung is a continuation of the education series that has been carried out in several major cities.
“Through the BYD Tech Culture Fest, we want to present an approach that is more inclusive, educational and easily accessible, so that more people can experience directly how this technology can deliver a mobility experience that is safer, more efficient, more comfortable and relevant to daily needs,” Luther said in a media statement.
In addition to the vehicle exhibition, BYD is also holding the BYD M6 DM Media Test Drive. The activity gives journalists the opportunity to test the performance of Dual Mode, or hybrid, technology in varied road conditions through a Media Challenge competition concept.
