BYD Tech Culture Fest 2026 Arrives in Bandung, Showcasing Eco-Friendly Technology
A different kind of activity was seen at the 23 Paskal Shopping Center in Bandung on Wednesday, as PT BYD Motor Indonesia presented the BYD Tech Culture Fest 2026 to the public. The festival, running until 19 July, features a range of interactive experiences, from test drives of the latest BYD M6 and Denza D9 vehicles to a Monster Track Experience, B5 Challenge, interactive technology booths, and various family activities and culinary areas. Operation Director of PT BYD Motor Indonesia, Nathan Sun, stated that the event is an effort to bring future mobility technology closer to the public through a concept that combines technology, lifestyle, and community experience. He added that Bandung was chosen due to its high enthusiasm for the development of electric vehicles. Following successful events in several other cities, BYD returned to provide the public with direct experience of the company’s developed technologies. ‘Public mobility continues to evolve, and more people understand the importance of more efficient and environmentally friendly vehicles. That is why we want the public not just to see, but to directly experience BYD technology,’ he emphasised. During the event, BYD also introduced its Dual Mode (DM) or Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) technology, which combines the e-Platform 3.0, Blade Battery, and the latest generation DM platform. The DM technology encompasses four main zones: ‘Gesit’ representing responsive yet smooth acceleration; ‘Andal’ representing the adaptive working of the DM technology in various road conditions; ‘Senyap’ representing a quiet construction with minimal vibration; and ‘Super Irit’ providing energy efficiency optimisation for daily use or long trips. Visitors can also experience the capabilities of the DENZA B5 through the Monster Track Offroad, which presents various obstacles such as extreme inclines, bumpy tracks, and seesaws. This feature demonstrates the vehicle’s drive system and control capabilities in maintaining traction, stability, and driving comfort. Meanwhile, in the Speed Test Ride area, the public has the opportunity to try out the performance of the BYD Seal 6 DM, which is soon to be launched in Indonesia. A test drive route is also prepared to showcase the handling capabilities, energy efficiency, cabin comfort, and smart features of BYD vehicles. Nathan revealed that since entering the Indonesian market in 2024, BYD has delivered approximately 97,000 units to consumers across the country. Specifically in West Java, more than 10,500 BYD vehicles are already in operation. To support after-sales service, the company is also continuously expanding its dealer network. ‘We currently have around 100 showrooms throughout Indonesia. In West Java alone, 15 dealers are already operating, and this year we are targeting an increase to around 30 dealers to make it easier for the public to access sales and service,’ he explained. Nathan added that the penetration of electric vehicles in Indonesia has seen a significant surge. While the market share for electric vehicles was around 1% in 2021, it has now exceeded 20%. ‘The electrification journey in Indonesia has just begun. We will continue to present innovations so that people who still use fossil fuel vehicles become more confident in switching to electric or Dual Mode vehicles,’ he said. On the same occasion, Bandung Deputy Mayor Erwin welcomed the holding of the BYD Tech Culture Fest in the city. He noted that the people of Bandung are known to be open to developments in science and technology, including environmentally friendly vehicles. ‘We hope more residents will switch to using low-emission vehicles so that environmental quality also improves,’ he explained. He assessed that the use of new technology vehicles is one solution to reduce carbon emissions amidst the high number of motor vehicles in Bandung. Support also came from the BYD user community. The General Chairperson of Beyond Community, Eko Budiharsono, said the community, which was established when BYD entered Indonesia, now has more than 3,000 members. According to Eko, after-sales service is one of the advantages felt by users, ranging from spare parts availability and emergency services to vehicle software updates that can improve performance and energy efficiency. ‘We feel BYD’s after-sales service is very good. Communication with the principal is also open, so various issues can be resolved quickly. That is what makes user trust continue to increase,’ he concluded.
