BYD Indonesia is targeting 4,200 vehicle orders during the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2026. Head of PR & Government Relations PT BYD Motor Indonesia, Luther T. Panjaitan, stated that the company aims to exceed the roughly 4,200 vehicle orders recorded during the previous year’s event. “We will monitor it and report back later,” he said when met at the BYD booth at ICE BSD City, Tangerang, on Wednesday, 29 July 2026. Luther noted that the market trend in the second half of the year is expected to improve compared to the first half. The electric vehicle market in the first semester of 2026 saw sales of 77,041 units, a 39.4 percent increase from the 55,260 units sold in the same period of 2025. BYD plans to boost sales by introducing new products, including the BYD M6 DM, a plug-in hybrid EV. The company is also optimistic about the M6 DM’s sales performance, noting strong initial reception in the Indonesian market. “It has become one of the top-selling PHEV products, with nearly 400 units sold,” Luther said. During GIIAS 2026, BYD is showcasing the M6, which is now locally produced. Luther confirmed that the locally assembled M6 has no differences in quality compared to the imported version and has achieved a domestic component level (TKDN) above 40 percent, complying with government regulations. Visitors to the exhibition can find the BYD booth in Hall 10 at ICE BSD City, Tangerang, where popular models like the BYD Atto 1 are also on display.
