Jakarta (ANTARA) - The mid-size BYD Song Ultra EV crossover is reportedly set to enter the Chinese market with a starting price of 180,000 yuan (USD 26,050) or approximately Rp438 million.

As reported by Carnewschina on Monday local time, the vehicle will offer a CLTC range of up to 710 km and a single electric motor producing 270 kW (362 hp).

Various Chinese sources had previously indicated that the Song Ultra EV would enter the Chinese market within a price range of 220,000 to 260,000 yuan (USD 31,840 to USD 37,630), or approximately Rp535 million to Rp633 million. However, one Chinese media outlet reported that the SUV would be priced at around Rp438 million.

This significant price correction coincides with a recent statement from the General Manager of BYD’s Dynasty series that the Song Ultra EV has a monthly sales target exceeding 20,000 units.

The Song Ultra EV is the largest vehicle in the Song line-up, equipped with BYD’s “God’s Eye” B (DiPilot 300) driving assistance system. The BYD Song Ultra EV measures 4,850/1,910/1,670 mm with a wheelbase of 2,840 mm. Its kerb weight ranges from 1,990 to 2,050 kg.

Despite being over 4.8 metres in length, the Song Ultra features only two rows of seats due to its sloping roofline. The vehicle boasts sculpted wheel arches, flush door handles, a rooftop LiDAR sensor, and a sloping bonnet line.

The BYD Song Ultra EV is equipped with a single electric motor. The entry-level variant offers a peak output of 240 kW (322 hp), whilst the more powerful variant delivers 270 kW (362 hp).

The family vehicle is available with two LFP battery options manufactured by BYD’s subsidiary FinDreams, with capacities of 75.6 kWh and 82.7 kWh. The respective CLTC ranges are 620 km and 710 km, with a top speed of 210 km/h.

The BYD Song was originally a standalone model under the BYD brand but has since evolved into a small crossover family. It currently comprises the Song Pro DM-i, Song L EV, and Song L DM-i. The Song Plus SUV, sold globally as the Sealion 6 and Seal U, recently departed the Chinese market.
