BYD signals preparation of even cheaper Atto 1 variant

Bogor (ANTARA) - BYD Motor Indonesia has signalled the introduction of a new variant of the Atto 1, a compact-sized electric city car that has been selling well in the market.

Head of Public & Government Relations at PT BYD Motor Indonesia, Luther Panjaitan, in the Bogor area on Wednesday, revealed that they will add a more affordable variant of the Atto 1.

“We also want to maintain a line-up of the Atto 1 variant that remains accessible, so we will add another variant below. We might name it Standard or STD,” he said.

“So that functionality can still be obtained but provides access to the public to still own an EV at an accessible price,” Luther explained.

Furthermore, besides adding a new variant, Luther said that they are also preparing several enhancements to the existing Atto 1 variants.

“This is part of our research as well, so there are several improvements that I think are quite good and currently something that is requested by Atto 1 owners,” Luther added.

Currently, the Atto 1 Dynamic variant is sold for Rp205 million, up from the previous Rp199 million. Meanwhile, the Long Range variant is now marketed at Rp245 million from the previous Rp235 million.

Luther explained the reason behind the price adjustment of their cheapest compact electric car, the Atto 1, by up to Rp10 million is not merely an increase, but also accompanied by upgrades to the model.
