BYD has announced that its manufacturing facility in Brazil has secured orders for approximately 100,000 vehicles from the Argentine and Mexican markets.

According to reports, the orders comprise roughly 50,000 vehicles for Argentina and 50,000 vehicles for Mexico.

BYD’s Executive Vice President, Stella Li, stated that the vehicles will be manufactured at BYD’s production facility in Brazil and subsequently exported to both countries.

The Camaçari plant currently has an annual production capacity of 150,000 vehicles, with plans to increase this to 600,000 vehicles in phases.

The facility will produce plug-in hybrid and electric vehicles including the Dolphin Mini, BYD King, and Song Pro models.

Additionally, BYD announced plans to invest 300 million Brazilian real (USD 53 million), approximately 898 billion rupiah, to establish a research centre in Rio de Janeiro.

Construction is scheduled to begin this year, with completion expected by 2028.

The facility will also generate tropical climate data to assist BYD in developing new products and adapting specialised technologies for the local market.
