Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Chinese automaker BYD is experiencing a difficult period due to declining sales that have persisted for eight consecutive months, according to a report published by CarnewsChina on Friday local time. In April, BYD managed to distribute only 314,100 vehicles, a decrease of 15.7%. Compared to March sales, BYD’s figures rose by 6.2%. The sales decline for BYD has been occurring since last September. Nevertheless, vehicle deliveries outside China have set a new record. BYD’s domestic market decline stems from various factors, ranging from extended holidays related to Chinese New Year celebrations to issues with cuts in electric vehicle incentives in China. From January to April, BYD sold 1,003,039 passenger vehicles, down 26.4% from the previous year. Over the same period, overseas sales reached 455,707 units, up 59.8% year-on-year. Meanwhile, BYD’s subsidiary Fang Cheng Bao, which focuses on off-road vehicles, experienced growth of 190.2%, selling 29,138 units in April. Additionally, the premium brand Denza saw a decline of 26.9%, managing to sell around 11,250 units, while the high-end marque Yangwang grew 95.6% by selling 264 units.
