BYD Robot Capable of Charging Cars and Automatically Inflating Tyres
JAKARTA – Competition in new energy vehicle (NEV) technology is no longer limited to battery range or futuristic designs. Now, the Chinese automotive giant BYD is taking it further by patenting a robotic system capable of operating independently without human intervention.
Quoted from Globalchinaev.com on Wednesday (8/4/2026), this patent, titled “A Robot”, has been officially registered with the National Intellectual Property Administration of China. Interestingly, the robot not only supplies electrical power to the battery but also monitors and automatically adjusts tyre air pressure.
Technically, this advanced robot combines six functional modules into a single unit. From data collection to read battery levels and tyre pressure, motion control, to a clamping module that holds the charging gun or air nozzle in place for precise operation.
Once the car is parked in the appropriate spot, the system immediately checks the vehicle’s condition based on preset thresholds.
The emergence of BYD’s patent is further heating up the competition for charging infrastructure in the Land of the Bamboo Curtain.
