BYD Prepares to Launch Long-Range PHEV Sealion 06
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Automaker BYD is preparing to launch the Sealion 06 DM-i long-range variant plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) in 2026.
According to a CarNewsChina report on Monday (16/2), the model is equipped with a peak 175 kW drive motor, a BYD472QC 1.5-litre engine, and an optional God’s Eye level C driver assistance system supported by LiDAR.
The new DM-i variant, registered under the code BYD6480AMHEV12, carries a peak drive motor energy label of 175 kW, maximum net power of 70 kW, a kerb weight of 1,930 kg, and a maximum gross design weight of 2,385 kg.
Its pure electric range is listed at 143 km, which analysts estimate equates to approximately 220 km under CLTC testing conditions.
The new Sealion 06 DM-i’s combined fuel consumption is recorded at 0.63 litres per 100 km, combined electric energy consumption at 17.1 kWh per 100 km, and oil-electric equivalent consumption at 2.62 litres per 100 km.
CO₂ emissions for the new DM-i variant are recorded at 14.93 grams per km.
The Sealion 06 sold more than 100,000 units within just three months of its debut, making it a standout performer in China’s PHEV SUV segment.
Built on BYD’s e-3.0 Evo platform, the vehicle was originally positioned as a replacement for the Song PLUS, which has sold millions of units.
The DM-i PHEV upgrade involves combining a 175 kW electric motor with a BYD472QC 1.5-litre engine to improve hybrid efficiency.
The previous Sealion 06 EV model featured a 240 kW motor as standard, according to announcements by Chinese authorities.
