BYD M6 DM price leaks on social media, BYD says it's still an estimate
Jakarta – BYD M6 DM price that has been circulating widely on social media is not yet an official price tag from PT BYD Motor Indonesia. Nevertheless, the company did not dispute that the price list originated from an internal estimate shared with the sales network.
Previously, a photo appeared on social media believed to be the BYD M6 DM price list. The plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) is said to be priced starting at Rp 310 million for the lowest variant up to Rp 390 million for the top variant.
In response, the Head of Public & Government Relations at PT BYD Motor Indonesia said that, to date, BYD has not announced an official M6 DM price to the public.
He noted that the high enthusiasm among the public following the launch of the Dual Mode (DM) technology has led many customers to visit showrooms and place early orders.
‘What has happened is that demand after the DM technology launch two days ago has driven many to visit our social media and to want to see the vehicle in person, and some have already paid deposits,’ he said.
Therefore, BYD subsequently conducted internal coordination with the sales network to provide a temporary price picture to prospective customers.
‘Hence we coordinated internally with the sales network to release an indication price, or estimated price. This provides information that is sufficiently relevant for customers to place orders,’ he said.
He acknowledged that the estimated price list eventually spread to the public via social media. However BYD has not yet confirmed whether the numbers circulating will be identical to the official price when it is released.
‘What is unfortunate is that the indication prices leaked to the public. But we are not saying yes, and we are not saying no to that information. However, it is not the official price that BYD will release,’ he added.
‘That is merely an indication price that we passed to the sales network as a reference,’ he continued.
Although not final, BYD signalled that the official price would not differ too far from the current estimate.
‘Meaning the indication price should not be much higher or lower. Hopefully customers feel more confident in their decision. Because this usually concerns a product that people want to obtain information on as soon as possible, so they can place bookings early,’ he said.
For background, BYD officially introduced its first PHEV technology in Indonesia through the M6 DM on Monday (18 May 2026).
BYD claims the M6 DM’s fuel consumption can reach up to 65 kilometres per litre with a combined range of more than 1,800 kilometres. The Dual Mode system also offers three driving modes — EV, HEV Series, and HEV Parallel — to suit daily usage conditions.
