BYD M6 DM PHEV Orders Claimed to Reach Hundreds of Units
Public interest in plug-in hybrid vehicles is showing a positive trend in Indonesia, as evidenced by market response to the BYD M6 DM, which has reportedly received numerous orders, though exact figures were not disclosed. The model marks BYD’s first officially launched PHEV in Indonesia. Its introduction signifies a new chapter for BYD, previously known primarily for its pure electric vehicles. ‘Demand for the M6 DM is rising steadily, with many customers visiting our showrooms to inquire and learn more,’ said Luther in Jakarta on 26 May 2026. ‘Even after disclosing indicative pricing, we have already received significant orders—hundreds of units since yesterday—and this continues,’ he added. This positive response has boosted BYD’s confidence in expanding its Dual Mode Hybrid technology awareness campaign across various cities. Consequently, BYD plans to roll out product and technology introduction events in major cities including Medan, Semarang, Bandung, Surabaya, and Makassar over the coming weeks. The initiative aims to provide the public with comprehensive information on the Dual Mode Hybrid technology, a key feature of the M6 DM. The vehicle features a petrol engine producing approximately 160 horsepower and an electric motor torque of 210 Nm, coupled with a Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (E-CVT). The battery is a 18.3 kWh BYD Blade Battery based on LFP chemistry. In pure electric mode, the M6 DM can travel up to approximately 100 km without using petrol. When fully charged and with a full petrol tank, the combined range is claimed to reach 1,300 km.
