BYD M6 DM was officially introduced in Indonesia on 18 May 2026. Interestingly, the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) is predicted to have a price lower than the pure electric version or battery electric vehicle (BEV).

This is evident from the Motor Vehicle Selling Value (NJKB) for BYD M6 DM, which is recorded substantially lower than that of the BYD M6 EV.

A BYD salesperson in Jakarta said the NJKB for the BYD M6 DM is around Rp 100 million to Rp 120 million.

‘NJKB BYD M6 DM is Rp 100 million to Rp 120 million. Cheaper than the BYD M6 EV, whose NJKB is Rp 200 million to Rp 280 million. The price is cheaper, estimated at Rp 320 million to Rp 380 million,’ the BYD salesperson told Kompas.com on Tuesday (19 May 2026).

Signals of the BYD hybrid model’s arrival had already appeared when the MEH vehicle code was listed in Minister Regulation No. 11 of 2026 on the basis for motor vehicle tax.

In that document, there are seven BYD models coded MEH with NJKB ranging from Rp 104 million to Rp 123 million.

The relatively low NJKB figures indicate that BYD intends to position the M6 DM’s selling price aggressively in the Indonesian market. After all, the lower the NJKB, the larger the room for the manufacturer to determine competitive On The Road (OTR) prices.

This step is also predicted to intensify competition in the hybrid and plug-in hybrid market, given that many current PHEV models in Indonesia are still sold at above Rp 380 million and even reach billions.
