BYD Launches Third-Generation Atto 3 with 630km Range
Chinese automotive giant BYD (Build Your Dreams) has officially launched the third generation of its electric crossover, the Atto 3, for the Chinese domestic market. The electric vehicle boasts a range of up to 630km. Notably, the compact battery-powered SUV, which is already available in Indonesia, has undergone significant changes in exterior design, cabin features, and powertrain. Aesthetically, the BYD Atto 3 retains its signature ‘Dragon Face’ design language, but designers have introduced a flatter front fascia for a more modern look. This is complemented by slimmer headlights, creating a strong futuristic aura. In terms of dimensions, the vehicle measures 4,665mm in length, 1,895mm in width, 1,675mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,770mm. Practicality has been enhanced with an electrically operated 180-litre front trunk (frunk) that opens with a tap, while the rear boot offers a spacious 750-litre capacity. Inside the cabin, a modern feel is achieved through BYD’s floating central display, now larger, and featuring the latest DiLink infotainment system. The steering wheel now features a two-spoke design, and the gear selector has moved from the centre console to the steering column, accompanied by a head-up display (HUD) and 50W wireless charging. Front passenger comfort is enhanced with the electric ‘Queen Seat’, featuring leg support, ventilation, and heating functions. Additional features include a cooled storage box, heated steering wheel, and a 16-speaker premium audio system. BYD has also cleverly utilised space with under-seat storage compartments for glasses and integrated tissue holders in the second row. Technically, the new generation adopts BYD’s e-Platform 3.0 Evo architecture, supported by second-generation Blade Battery technology with faster charging capabilities. Unlike its predecessor, which used front-wheel drive (FWD), the new Atto 3 now features rear-wheel drive (RWD). Two electric motor options are available: a 200kW (268hp) version and a more powerful 240kW (321hp) variant.
