Jakarta (ANTARA) – Chinese automotive manufacturer BYD, through its luxury division Yangwang, has officially launched its newest flagship sedan, the Yangwang U7, a 2026 model. According to CarNewsChina reported on Friday local time, the car offers an electric range of up to 1,006 km under the CLTC standard and features flash charging capable of charging the battery in a very short time. The launch of this luxury electric sedan presents five variants valued from 658,000 yuan to 888,000 yuan, or around Rp1.6 billion to Rp2.1 billion. The variants include Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) options with four- or five-seat cabin configurations. As a large sedan, the U7 retains the front-end design typical of the Yangwang line. The plug-in hybrid variants are slightly larger with a length of 5,360 mm, width 2,000 mm, height 1,515 mm, and a wheelbase of 3,200 mm. The car is also equipped with an active spoiler that automatically adjusts to driving conditions. Inside, the cabin features a symmetrical dashboard with a large vertical central control screen, an LCD instrument cluster, and a front passenger infotainment screen. All seats are upholstered in Nappa leather, while the front seats offer up to 20-way adjustment with heated, ventilated and hot-stone massage functions. For the four-seat variant, rear passengers get independent seats with electric footrests and a central console entertainment screen. The audio system uses Premium Dynaudio with 23 speakers. In terms of performance, the EV version uses four electric motors with a range of 860 km to 1,006 km (CLTC). Meanwhile the PHEV combines a 2.0-litre turbo engine with four electric motors delivering a combined output of up to 1,000 kW or about 1,340 hp. The plug-in hybrid variant offers pure electric range of 200–220 km and a total range of up to 1,100 km. Thanks to second-generation Blade Battery technology and flash charging, the battery can be charged from 0 to 70 percent in just 5 minutes, or from 10 to 97 percent in around 9 minutes. The sedan also features the e⁴ quad-motor architecture combined with rear-wheel steering up to 20 degrees. This combination yields a turning radius of around 4.85 metres and introduces manoeuvres such as tank turn, crab walk, and automatic parking. Additionally, the car is equipped with a DiSus-Z suspension system based on magnetic-levitation motors that replace conventional hydraulic dampers. This technology is claimed to enhance vehicle stability, including under extreme conditions such as a tire puncture at high speed or a side impact. The suspension is also paired with DiSus-A+ smart air body control to improve ride comfort and handling.
