BYD Launches Blade Battery 2.0, Electric Car Charging in Minutes
BYD continues to innovate its flagship battery. Not long ago, the Chinese manufacturer officially launched the Blade Battery 2.0. Cited from Carnewschina.com on Friday 6 March 2026, the innovation increases energy density and significantly reduces charging times, even in extremely cold weather. Remarkably, even at temperatures below zero, the system remains efficient. Charging from 20% to 97% takes 12 minutes at -20°C, and 12 minutes at -30°C, only three minutes longer than at room temperature for the 20%-97% range. In addition, when using standard charging stations, Blade Battery 2.0 charges 30%-50% faster than conventional EV batteries. To support this technology, BYD launched a new generation of charging stations named Flash Charging. Modelled on conventional petrol stations, Flash Charging will apply idle fees to vehicles that exceed charging time. Each charging station delivers a maximum output of 1500 kW and operates at a high voltage of 1000 V, ensuring rapid charging even in extreme cold. Alongside the battery launch, BYD announced plans to establish a dedicated fast-charging network, with compatible vehicles sporting a special badge at the rear to indicate the advanced charging capability.
