BYD Joins the Hybrid Car Market Fray: What's Interesting About the M6 DM? (Video)

After aggressively launching several pure electric vehicles in Indonesia, BYD is now joining the hybrid segment with the M6 Dual Mode (DM), a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV).

BYD claims that the M6 DM PHEV can meet consumers’ demand for electric-vehicle efficiency without the hassle of battery charging.

This appears to serve as a bridge for people who want to switch to environmentally friendly and fuel-efficient cars but are hesitant to adopt pure electric vehicles due to the limitations of charging stations.

Essentially, the petrol engine will operate when needed, for example when battery capacity is low or when the vehicle requires additional power at high speeds.

Although it seems similar to many Toyota hybrids, which also rely on battery power at the start while the battery is sufficiently charged, and to real-series hybrid systems used in the Daihatsu Rocky Hybrid or Nissan Kicks e-Power, the BYD M6 DM PHEV also offers several driving modes that are a technological edge.
