BYD Indonesia has no plans to raise vehicle prices - BCA Sekuritas
BYD Motors Indonesia has no plans to raise vehicle prices, even though a depreciation in the rupiah could affect production costs. Luther Panjaitan, Head of Public Relations and Government Affairs at PT BYD Motors Indonesia, said the company had anticipated various possibilities before deciding to invest in Indonesia. ‘We have considered these conditions through a comprehensive study and, to date, we remain positive and confident with the strategy we have, both in terms of product, price, and the promotions we will undertake,’ he said in Jakarta on Monday (18 May). However, he did not rule out the possibility that the company may raise vehicle prices in the future. ‘If asked about potential, it may happen, but at this time it is not in our short-term strategy,’ he said. BYD is building a vehicle assembly facility with capacity to produce up to 150,000 units per year in Subang, West Java. The factory, whose construction is already in the final stage, is slated to become operational in 2026. BYD already has a vehicle marketing network in Indonesia. The Chinese automaker has marketed models such as Seal, Atto, Dolphin, and M6 in Indonesia.
