BYD Indonesia Builds New Energy Vehicle Ecosystem with Beyond Community
Rows of transparent chairs were arranged in front of the main stage at the BYD Indonesia booth in Hall 10B ICE BSD City, Tangerang. Dozens of people wearing dark blue shirts emblazoned with ‘Beyond Community’ on the chest and back filled the available seats. Some others were on stage as speakers.
They were not the only ones present. BYD Indonesia Public Relations Manager Nathasya Natalia was also in attendance and delivered a welcome address. Head of PR & Government Relations at BYD Indonesia Luther Panjaitan was also there.
The atmosphere unfolded during the BYD Beyond Family Celebration on Saturday (8/8/2026). Beyond, the largest BYD user community in the country, celebrated two years of the M6 and one year of the Atto 1 in Indonesia at GIIAS 2026. The celebration also served as the momentum for the launch of a dedicated app for Beyond Community members.
“Today, BYD has recorded sales of more than 92,000 units since its launch in 2024. This is an achievement for all of you — the first EV maker capable of reaching that figure or scale. We are also seeing growth in the number of members or the community that is part of the energy transition journey, particularly through the use of new energy vehicles,” Nathasya said in her remarks on stage.
The core administrators of Beyond Community also took turns delivering remarks, covering member growth and explaining the dedicated app for Beyond Community members launched at the event. The app offers many conveniences for members. The most notable feature is the SOS function, which can broadcast emergency conditions to Beyond Community members near the incident location.
As is typical of Indonesian celebrations, there was a tumpeng cutting moment. The Beyond Community administrators, together with Luther, carried out the tumpeng cutting procession as an expression of gratitude for two years of the M6 and one year of the BYD Atto 1.
However, the celebration was not only about the age of two BYD products. Behind the event lies the story of how a customer community grew organically and then became a partner for the principal, particularly in conveying user experiences, helping resolve issues, and introducing new energy vehicle technology to the Indonesian public.
From owners to principal partners
Beyond Community initially formed from people who had placed orders for BYD vehicles before receiving their units. Communication that originally took place among prospective users then grew more intense once the vehicles were in their hands.
“Actually, we were the ones waiting for our SPK. I myself placed my SPK in February and received the car in July. Then, because we had a WhatsApp group, we waited together and eventually formed the community. The community was formed in August 2024,” said Adistya Prameswari Permana, Secretary of Beyond Community Indonesia, in a conversation with Republika after the event.
Beyond Community has now grown into a platform for 3,108 official BYD car user members as of 8 August. Due to the large number of members, communication could not take place in a single large group, so it was divided by vehicle model. This was because the number of members kept growing and could no longer be accommodated in one WhatsApp group. However, each core administrator of Beyond Community continues to monitor each of those WhatsApp groups.
