BYD Factory in Subang Enters Final Stage
JAKARTA - The construction of BYD Indonesia’s factory in the Subang area, West Java, has now entered the final stage before commencing mass production in the near future.
Head of Public & Government Relations at PT BYD Motor Indonesia, Luther T. Panjaitan, stated that the progress of the production facility currently involves completing the integration and testing stages.
“We have reached the final stages to commence mass production as soon as possible,” said Luther in Jakarta on Wednesday (23/4/2026).
“In the manufacturing process, particularly integrating equipment, it requires considerable time, and we must ensure that the products manufactured from our facility meet 100 per cent quality standards,” he added.
According to Luther, this process also heavily depends on trials or tests conducted by the manufacturing team.
“This process indeed depends very much on the trials carried out by the manufacturing division. But based on the developments, it is approaching the end,” he said.
On the other hand, BYD has also obtained several important certifications as operational requirements for the factory. These certificates cover production readiness to manufacturing feasibility standards.
“We have obtained several important certificates, such as the IKD certificate for the vehicles to be produced. We have also received the LCEV certificate and several standard certificates for manufacturing feasibility,” said Luther.
Thus, BYD now only needs to complete the final stage involving integration and finalisation of production equipment as well as quality testing.
Alongside the factory’s readiness, BYD is also preparing workforce needs. In the initial stage, workforce absorption will focus on the production sector to support this year’s operational targets.
“For this early stage, it will certainly focus on the production side, in manufacturing, especially since we are targeting production this year to meet domestic production needs,” said Luther.
However, workforce needs are not limited to the production line. BYD is also opening opportunities in various supporting business sectors, from offices, sales, to distribution.
“We have integrated all of that currently to be ready to operate as soon as possible,” he said.
