BYD Expands Premium Brand Denza into Europe's Luxury Electric Vehicle Market
Jakarta (ANTARA) - BYD is bringing its premium sub-brand, Denza, to the luxury electric vehicle market in Europe, marked by the launch of several new models at an event in Palais Garnier, Paris.
At the event, Denza showcased its flagship model, the Denza Z9GT, a shooting brake-style car with a low and aerodynamic design, as reported by Arena EV on Saturday.
The vehicle is priced starting from €115,000 and offers various technological upgrades. It is built on the e3 platform and available in both pure electric and hybrid versions.
For the electric variant, the Denza Z9GT is claimed to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.7 seconds. It is also equipped with a rear-wheel steering system to enhance manoeuvrability, particularly when navigating tight corners.
In addition, Denza introduced the D9, a premium multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) designed for long-distance travel comfort.
Besides the new models, charging technology was a highlight of the launch. BYD introduced a 1,500 kW fast-charging system supported by the second-generation Blade Battery.
This technology is claimed to charge up to 70 percent in just five minutes and reach 100 percent in nine minutes. If widely adopted, it has the potential to address one of the main consumer concerns about electric vehicles: long charging times.
To support this technology, BYD plans to build 3,000 fast-charging stations in Europe by the end of 2026, and a total of 6,000 units globally. The construction of fast-charging stations aims to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles in various markets.
Denza also targets aggressive expansion with plans to enter more than 30 countries in Europe and open over 150 outlets by 2026. The initial expansion phase will begin in seven countries, including France and Germany, which are known as key luxury car markets.
As part of Denza’s marketing strategy, it has appointed actor Daniel Craig, known for portraying James Bond in films, as the global brand ambassador.
