BYD Denza with 'R1 126' License Plate Fined After Suspected Visit to Tangerang Satpol PP Office

TANGERANG, KOMPAS.com — A black BYD Denza with license plate ‘R1 126’ was fined by Tangerang City Police Traffic Unit (Satlantas) for using a vehicle registration plate (TNKB) that does not meet technical specifications.

The vehicle was also suspected of visiting the Tangerang Regency Satpol PP office prior to enforcement.

‘There was a traffic violation involving the use of a TNKB not in line with technical standards,’ said Fery when contacted by Kompas.com on Wednesday (27/5/2026).

‘Our officers issued a traffic ticket to the driver,’ he added.

All motor vehicles must use TNKB that meet specified technical standards, including font, numbers, size, and plate material. Regulations state that vehicles with non-compliant plates may face criminal penalties or fines.

Regarding reports that the owner visited the Satpol PP office with the ‘R1 126’ plate, police said they are unaware of the visit’s purpose or the plate’s origin.

‘Through our enforcement action, we are upholding the regulations regarding the TNKB’s technical specifications. As for the visit to Satpol PP, we do not know,’ said Tangerang City Police Public Affairs Chief, IPDA Sandro, when contacted.

Previously, the enforcement video went viral on social media after being posted by Instagram account @officialtangerangupdatecom. The video showed Tangerang City Police traffic officers stopping a private vehicle at the Pemda Tigaraksa-Cikupa intersection on Monday night. The post stated the driver was fined for violating TNKB technical specifications and legal regulations.

As of this report, the Tangerang Regency Satpol PP office has not issued an official comment regarding the vehicle’s visit to its premises.
