BYD Denza B8 Seen Driving on Three Wheels on Public Road
China (ANTARA) – Footage circulating on Chinese social media shows the BYD Fang Cheng Bao Bao 8, marketed as the Denza B8 outside China, travelling on a two-lane road in Jinshan, Lianyungang.
According to CarNewsChina on Saturday (17 October), the vehicle’s front-left wheel appears to be raised and fitted with a yellow-and-red metal wheel-locking device.
In the circulating footage, the Denza B8 appears to travel near other vehicles on the road. Several cars are parked nearby, and pedestrians can be seen in the area.
The scene recalls BYD’s demonstration in May 2026 of its DiSus-P Ultra hydraulic suspension system, which allows an SUV to lift one wheel while moving on the other three.
The earlier demonstration took place on a test track, whereas the newly circulating video shows the vehicle travelling on a public road.
Reported specifications include a suspension adjustment range of up to 200 mm, a maximum lift of 300 mm for each wheel, and a maximum lifting capacity of nine metric tonnes (about 88.3 kN).
These figures are reported specifications for the system, not measurements taken from the vehicle in the newly circulated video.
During the May 2026 demonstration, BYD set a maximum speed of 15 km/h while driving on three wheels. The circulating footage does not show a verified measurement of the vehicle’s speed.
The footage appears to show the vehicle travelling on three wheels on a public road lined with shops, with several vehicles parked nearby. This could raise concerns about safety risks.
China’s Road Traffic Safety Law sets out vehicle safety requirements and rules for operating motor vehicles that may pose safety hazards.
