BYD Confirms M6 DM Classic as Cheapest Variant

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - PT BYD Motor Indonesia has confirmed that the BYD M6 DM Classic will be the entry-level variant in the M6 DM lineup set to launch in Indonesia. The model’s presence had previously sparked speculation that the Classic variant would be the most affordable option for the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV). “Yes, the Classic (the lowest variant of the M6 DM),” Luther told Kompas.com on Friday (29 May 2026). Luther also confirmed that the variant would be introduced alongside the official price announcement for the BYD M6 DM in Indonesia. “Yes,” he said. For reference, the BYD M6 DM will be available in two models: Classic and Cross. Each model will have Standard and Dynamic options. In terms of design, the M6 DM Classic features a simpler look compared to the Cross variant. It has a black plastic grille, 16-inch wheels, and lacks additional fender extensions. Although it does not come with advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) features, the vehicle is equipped with cruise control and a 360-degree camera. For its battery, the M6 DM Classic is equipped with a 7.4 kWh battery, smaller than the Cross variant’s 18.3 kWh. Due to the smaller battery, the vehicle does not support fast charging and instead uses AC charging.
