BYD Motor Indonesia remains optimistic that the market for electrified vehicles in Indonesia will continue to grow in the coming years. In fact, the trend in sales of electric cars has shown a significant increase compared with previous years.

Head of Public and Government Relations PT BYD Motor Indonesia, Luther Panjaitan, said that BYD has distributed tens of thousands of vehicles to Indonesian consumers since starting operations in the country.

“About 90,000 units have been delivered by BYD Motor Indonesia to be marketed,” Luther said in Central Jakarta on Wednesday (20/5/2026).

According to him, the trend in electrified vehicles in Indonesia still shows positive growth. Therefore BYD is optimistic that the local production target in the future will follow the market growth.

He added that the potential growth of the electric vehicle market is also driven by the government plans to provide additional incentives for electrified vehicles.

“Moreover, I hear the government will also provide additional incentives. So it will encourage people to buy electrified vehicles,” he said.

In line with this market growth, BYD is also preparing a local production facility in Indonesia. The BYD plant located in Subang, West Java, is currently under construction.

The presence of the local production facility will not only meet domestic demand but also open up opportunities to export electric vehicles from Indonesia to various countries.
