Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chinese automotive company BYD has asked Chinese netizens to vote on a name for its latest flagship sedan, which is currently rumoured to be named the Great Han (Dahan).

As reported by Carnewschina on Thursday local time, the vote was announced by BYD Dynasty Network General Manager Lu Tian via the social media platform Weibo. The battery electric vehicle (BEV) is set to become BYD’s flagship model, boasting a range of over 1,000 kilometres based on the CLTC standard and supported by flash-charging technology.

The final three name candidates are closely linked to Chinese culture, aligning with BYD’s strategy to promote the nation’s heritage in global markets.

The BYD Great Han is a large sedan, approximately 5.2 metres in length, featuring a sloping roofline, a low bonnet, multi-spoke chrome-accented rims, and a front design that differs from the current Han model. The vehicle is also equipped with extended taillights and roof-mounted LiDAR sensors to support advanced driver-assistance systems.

Inside the cabin, a three-spoke steering wheel features the Han logo at its centre. The gear selector has been moved to the steering column, providing more space on the central console for wireless charging and hidden storage compartments. As with other BYD models, the Great Han will feature a floating infotainment screen.

It was previously revealed that the Great Han EV will utilise the LFP-based Blade Battery 2.0, which is capable of charging from 10 per cent to 97 per cent in just nine minutes. The rear-wheel drive (RWD) variant is claimed to achieve a range of up to 1,008 km on a single charge, while the all-wheel drive (AWD) version offers a range of up to 880 km. BYD is expected to launch the Great Han in the Chinese domestic market in the third quarter of 2026.
