Jakarta — BYD and Jaecoo are leading Chinese vehicle sales and the new energy vehicle (NEV) segment in Indonesia’s market during the first two months of the year, recording thousands of units in sales. Both brands have also emerged among the ten best-selling car manufacturers in Indonesia in early 2026.

According to data from the Indonesian Automotive Manufacturers Association (Gaikindo), BYD recorded more than 10,000 units in wholesale sales during January and February 2026, a figure that includes sales of its premium sub-brand, Denza. Meanwhile, Jaecoo, which has been operating in Indonesia for just one year, has sold more than 5,000 units.

“The beginning of 2026 represents an important phase for NEV development in Indonesia. The growth we have seen in the first two months of this year demonstrates that electric vehicles are increasingly trusted as part of the solution for future mobility,” said Eagle Zhao, President Director of PT BYD Motor Indonesia, in an official statement.

For this reason, BYD recently introduced two latest technology innovations to domestic consumers to support the growth of the domestic electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem. BYD unveiled the second-generation Blade Battery, which has been improved in aspects of safety, efficiency, and battery durability.

Additionally, the brand also introduced flash charging, a super-fast charging innovation that is claimed to charge from 10 to 70 per cent in just five minutes. These two technologies are considered important aspects that often factor into Indonesian consumers’ decisions when switching from fossil fuel-based vehicles to electric vehicles.

Meanwhile, the electric vehicle segment remains the backbone of Jaecoo’s sales in Indonesia at the start of this year, accounting for 97 per cent of total wholesale sales. Thanks to its electric vehicle sales, Jaecoo has consistently remained on the list of the ten best-selling brands in the country for two consecutive months despite being relatively new to the domestic market.

As a long-term commitment, Jaecoo plans to expand its dealership network to 80 outlets across Indonesia by the end of this year.
