Bybit Indonesia Provides Post-Flood Support in North Sumatra
Jakarta, Indonesia — Bybit Indonesia, a locally regulated entity under the supervision of the Financial Services Authority (OJK), is providing support to restore educational facilities and clean water access for communities affected by the floods that hit several regions in Sumatra in November 202<0xA0>5, in collaboration with the Indonesian fundraising platform, Kitabisa.
This effort encompasses three programmes: the restoration of learning facilities at two schools in Langkat Regency, North Sumatra—namely the Rahman El-Manaf Bubun Education Foundation and SDN 057239 Sekoci—as well as the construction of boreholes to restore clean water access for flood-affected residents in Balee Panah Village, Bireuen Regency, Aceh.
“Helping communities recover from disasters requires sustained collaboration and an understanding of local needs. We appreciate Bybit Indonesia’s support in helping restore school facilities in Aceh and Sumatra. Through this partnership, we hope to support students and teachers in returning to their daily learning activities, and help families regain a sense of peace and stability. Schools play a vital role in community life, and their restoration deserves sustained attention,” said Vikra Ijas, Co-Founder and CEO of Kitabisa.
Restoring Learning Spaces at the Rahman El-Manaf Bubun Education Foundation
Located in Bubun Village, Tanjung Pura District, Langkat Regency, this school serves approximately 187 students from primary to upper secondary levels, supported by 17 teachers. The area is also vulnerable to tidal flooding, which adds challenges for both the local community and the school.
Support from Bybit Indonesia and Kitabisa includes the repair of physical school facilities, including floor repairs, classroom renovations, repainting, utility installations, and the provision of essential classroom equipment such as desks, chairs, and whiteboards.
For the Rahman El-Manaf Bubun Education Foundation, maintaining access to education is crucial for local families. Most parents work as fishermen and farmers, while the school provides education without charging tuition fees or any other additional costs to students.
Expanding Support to SDN 057239 Sekoci
Also in Langkat Regency, the initiative reaches SDN 057239 Sekoci, where approximately 90 students and 10 teachers have benefited from post-flood facility restoration. Support at this school includes repairs to floors and ceilings, repainting, electrical installations, and the repair of doors, windows, and ventilation, alongside the renovation of supporting areas such as the library and religious activity rooms. Bybit Indonesia also provided learning supplies to support daily teaching activities.
Restoring Access to Clean Water in Aceh
Beyond the education sector, meeting the basic needs of the community is a key focus in the recovery process. Flooding has damaged clean water infrastructure in several areas, leaving many residents struggling to access water for daily needs.
As part of the disaster donation efforts, Bybit Indonesia and Kitabisa have supported the construction of boreholes in Balee Panah Village, Juli District, Bireuen Regency, Aceh, with work having been underway since July 2026. The programme is expected to benefit approximately 144 households, or more than 400 individuals, by restoring access to clean water for daily uses such as drinking, cooking, washing, and other community activities.
“Education has always been a vital part of Bybit’s journey, both in Indonesia and globally. When we saw the impact of the floods in Sumatra, we wanted to find ways to make a tangible contribution to the recovery process—not only for children who need safe and proper learning spaces, but also for families who need reliable access to clean water,” said Lawrence Samantha, CEO of Bybit Indonesia. “Through our collaboration with Kitabisa, we can direct support to the places that need it most, allowing communities to continue their daily lives in a better environment. Recovery takes time, and we hope this support can contribute to the long-term recovery of the community.”
Building Resilience Through Local Support
This effort reflects Bybit Indonesia’s broader approach to community engagement, where education and support for local communities are integral parts of their corporate social impact efforts.
Collaborating with local partners like Kitabisa allows the company to channel support to communities with specific and urgent needs. In the case of the Rahman El-Manaf Bubun Education Foundation and SDN 057239 Sekoci, improving school facilities provides tangible support for students, teachers, and families, as the wider community continues to recover from the impacts of the floods.
Bybit Indonesia will continue to explore opportunities to support education and community resilience in Indonesia, in line with the company’s ongoing focus on responsible participation in the nation’s digital asset ecosystem.
