Risk Director of PT Bank Woori Saudara Indonesia 1906 Tbk (BWS), Moon Sungwon, stated that support from Woori Bank Korea is a key foundation for strengthening BWS’s business, including capital, liquidity, governance, business development, and knowledge transfer in banking.

“As the controlling shareholder with a 90.75% stake, Woori Bank Korea has a long-term commitment to supporting BWS’s growth in Indonesia, and this support is not only strategic but also concrete,” Moon said at the Annual Public Expose event held in Jakarta on Tuesday (26 May).

For instance, last year, Woori Bank Korea provided a $500 million liquidity injection to BWS. Moon added that this reflects the controlling shareholder’s commitment to maintaining BWS’s liquidity resilience and strengthening its capacity to support customer business needs. Additionally, Woori Bank Korea has demonstrated long-term commitment through capital strengthening measures.

In recent years, BWS conducted PMH METD 4 in 2023, resulting in an additional capital of approximately Rp3.1 trillion, as previously presented at the shareholders’ meeting. This move enhances BWS’s ability to perform intermediary functions and support future business growth.

Fundamentally, BWS’s capital position remains robust. As at the end of 2025, the bank recorded core capital of Rp9.53 trillion and equity of Rp10.61 trillion, with a capital adequacy ratio (CAR) of 29.39%.

“This position allows us to continue strengthening our business healthily, selectively, and prudently. Woori Bank Korea’s support will continue to focus on enhancing business synergies, particularly in corporate services, international banking, trade finance, treasury, and digital service development. BWS can also leverage Woori Bank Korea’s network and expertise to capitalise on Korean business ecosystem opportunities in Indonesia,” he concluded.
