Buya Yahya Urges Public to Pray for Prabowo: Being President Is Tough
Jakarta, Kompas.com - Ulama and head of the Al Bahjah Islamic boarding school in Cirebon, Yahya Zainul Ma’arif, alias Buya Yahya, has urged the public to offer prayers for President Prabowo Subianto to be granted strength and steadiness in carrying out the entrusted duty of leading the nation.
“The most important thing is prayer. Because being president is not easy, it is hard. We must pray for our leader a lot, that they can succeed in carrying out their duties,” Buya Yahya said on Thursday (5 March 2026).
He added that leading the country is no light task, with big decisions requiring responsibility for the people’s welfare and the future of the nation.
He hopes the people’s prayers can become an energy for good governance, so Indonesia remains on a path of peace and prosperity for all its people.
“Pray for his success, for his rise, for a peaceful umat, and for the happiness of the people,” he added.
In the Ramadan message, Buya Yahya urged that the holy month be used to strengthen goodness and peace: “A message of love: we want this Ramadan to be peaceful and tranquil. Alhamdulillah, all is well. Let us make this Ramadan a moment of goodness, a Ramadan of peace, a Ramadan of beauty.”
Beyond prayers and Ramadan, Buya Yahya also commented on Indonesia’s situation amid the evolving global geopolitical dynamics. He assessed that Indonesia remains safe and tranquil. This is evident in the public continuing to fulfil various obligations in daily life, both personally, within families, and in society.
“Indonesia is comfortable. We can carry out our duties and obligations in personal, family, and communal spheres. If there are other matters involving foreign affairs, there are others who know more about it,” he concluded.
