Busyro to Suciwati Urge Formation of Fact-Finding Team for Andrie Yunus Case
Nine prominent figures have issued a national appeal regarding the investigation into the acid attack on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus. They are urging the formation of an Independent Joint Fact-Finding Team that operates transparently.
The national appeal was delivered by Busyro Muqoddas, Sukidi, Halida Hatta, Karlina Supelli, Zumrotin K. Susilo, Lukman Hakim Saifuddin, Jacky Manuputty, Suciwati, and Gomar Gultom. They conveyed the appeal while holding white roses.
“We call for the formation of an Independent Joint Fact-Finding Team that works transparently, accountably, and free from interference, involving professionals from government and civil society elements,” said the General Chairman of the Communion of Churches in Indonesia (PGI), Jacky Manuputty, at the KontraS office in Central Jakarta on Tuesday (7/4/2026).
He also urged the implementation of the principle of equality. Especially if the suspected perpetrators of the attack are military members.
“Transitional provisions such as Article 74 of the TNI Law should be revoked so that the principle of equality before the law truly applies to all citizens, including when military members are suspected of being involved in attacks on civilians,” he stated.
Meanwhile, former Deputy Chairman of the KPK, Busyro Muqoddas, fully supports the struggle of young people like Andrie. He calls for resistance against impunity.
“Those of us standing here today want to continue supporting and strengthening Indonesia’s young generation to remain brave in upholding humanity amid cynicism, violence, and impunity,” he expressed.
“Impunity is the quietest form of violence. Which KontraS and many civil society movements in Indonesia have tried to combat,” he continued.
He reminded that justice must be upheld. The intellectual actors behind this acid attack case must be uncovered.
“Without justice being enforced up to the perpetrators and their intellectual actors, we have allowed Indonesia to collapse again and handed over the future of the young generation to violence,” he said.
As is known, Andrie Yunus became a victim of an acid attack on Thursday night (12/3). The TNI Police Main Directorate then arrested four individuals suspected of carrying out the acid attack on Andrie Yunus. All four are known to be members of the TNI’s Denma Bais from the Navy (AL) and Air Force (AU) branches.
“We state that these four suspected perpetrators are all members of the TNI’s Denma Bais, not from any specific unit, but from the TNI’s Denma Bais,” said the TNI Puspom Commander, Major General TNI Yusri Nuryanto, during a press conference at TNI Headquarters, Jakarta, on Wednesday (18/3).
