Busway trial held on Tuesday
JAKARTA: Motorists are advised to avoid passing streets affected by the new busway corridors on Tuesday as the Jakarta administration has arranged for bus drivers to try out the routes.
Jakarta administration spokesman Catur Laswanto said on Monday that the administration would stick to its plan to operate some buses at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, although some sections of the lanes were still under construction.
"Governor Sutiyoso himself will inspect the trial run," Catur said.
Officers from the City Transportation Agency will redirect traffic at several locations along the busway lanes that are prone to traffic jams.
One corridor stretches 14.3 kilometers from Pulogadung in East Jakarta to Harmoni in Central Jakarta and the other 18.7 kilometers from Harmoni to Kalideres. --JP
