Passengers using Jaklingko services in the Kampung Melayu area of East Jakarta were made uncomfortable by the presence of buskers inside the vehicles. Footage of the incident has since gone viral on social media.

In response to the incident, PT Transportasi Jakarta (Transjakarta) has issued an apology. Ayu Wardhani, Head of Public Relations and CSR at Transjakarta, stated that the company is taking reports regarding buskers on Mikrotrans services very seriously.

She emphasised that busking activities are not permitted within Transjakarta fleets, including Mikrotrans. “PT Transportasi Jakarta (Transjakarta) apologises for the inconvenience experienced by customers regarding the presence of buskers on the Mikrotrans service,” Ayu said when asked for confirmation on Friday.

Transjakarta ensured that regulations regarding safety, comfort, and order remain in effect across all services. This includes the prohibition of busking, begging, and unauthorised selling.

“Activities such as busking, begging, or selling in any form are strictly prohibited inside bus fleets and Mikrotrans, as well as throughout all Transjakarta station areas,” she added.

Transjakarta also reminded Mikrotrans users to continue tapping in and tapping out using electronic money cards (KUE) when boarding and exiting vehicles. This remains mandatory even though the current Mikrotrans fare is Rp 0. Furthermore, Mikrotrans vehicles are only permitted to stop at designated bus stops to pick up and drop off passengers.

Ayu stated that the reports regarding the buskers are being treated as a priority for Transjakarta to ensure similar incidents do not recur.

On the other hand, the company urged customers who encounter or experience discomfort during their journey to report it. Passengers are requested to note the bus code or vehicle registration number as supporting information for the report. Reports can be submitted through Transjakarta’s customer service at 1500-102 or via Transjakarta’s official social media channels.
