Buskers killed by angry drivers

WONOSOBO, Central Java: One street singer died and three others are in a coma after they were assaulted by a group of public transportation drivers on a street between Purworejo and Saputan villages, Antara reported Thursday.

The dead victim was identified as Eva Vagitus, 23, while the other three, Indra Saputra, 23, Mufid, 24 and Roni, 24, were admitted to Wonosobo General Hospital for severe injuries.

The incident occurred when the street singers reportedly extorted money from a bus passenger named Istikomah.

The bus drivers then gathered and searched for the street singers, brandishing weapons and assaulting the four singers.

The case is being handled by Wonosobo Police. (edt)
