Businessman stabbed 16 times

JAKARTA (JP): The owner of a furniture store was found dead
yesterday in his shop in Ciputat, South Jakarta, with at least 16
stab wounds to his torso, head, legs and hands.

Local police quoted relatives of the victim, who was
identified as Handoko, 48, as saying that a 14-inch television
set was found missing from the Top furniture shop on Jl. H.
Juanda, Cipayung.

Police say the motive for the killing is still unknown.

Handoko's son, whose name is being withheld by police, came to
the shop at about 9 a.m. yesterday and broke into the building
after his father, who lived alone in the store, failed to respond
to his knocking.

Once inside the shop, he found his father dead and covered
with blood on the floor, police said. (bsr)
