Businesses Urge Transparent DSI Operations, No Added Export Costs
Business groups are calling on the government to ensure PT Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia (DSI) operates transparently and accountably to avoid adding new costs for natural resources sector businesses. The request was made in a joint statement by the Indonesian Employers Association (APINDO), Indonesian Mining Association (IMA), Indonesian Coal Mining Association (APBI-ICMA), Nickel Industry Forum (FINI), and the Indonesian Palm Oil Association (GAPKI) regarding plans to strengthen strategic commodity export governance. “DSI operations should be transparent and accountable without imposing additional costs on businesses,” according to the joint statement received by Kompas.com on Monday, June 1, 2026. However, policy implementation must maintain national industry competitiveness. They stressed that clarity on DSI’s role is crucial for maintaining trust among businesses and international markets. The associations want DSI to act as a facilitator strengthening national export governance and data systems, not a source of additional trade costs. They argue that addressing under-invoicing and transfer pricing should rely on modern IT systems and targeted law enforcement against violators. The associations propose an integrated export platform based on a closed-loop system covering the entire supply chain from upstream to downstream. The system should connect with relevant authorities while ensuring transparency, credibility, and data confidentiality for all industry players. They noted that commodities such as coal, nickel, ferro-alloys, and palm oil have varying contract structures, supply chains, financing schemes, and international buyer profiles, requiring tailored approaches. Therefore, the associations urge the government to engage in technical dialogue with businesses to ensure a smooth transition to new export governance without disrupting national exports. “International buyers and importers must be promptly informed about the export governance policy by both the government and DSI. Sector associations are ready to support and facilitate this outreach,” they concluded.
