Businesses told to have some heart

JAKARTA: The Indonesian Heart Foundation (YJI) is appealing to businesses to put aside a part of their annual revenue to help promote a healthy lifestyle and to finance the medical costs of poor people suffering from heart disease.

Foundation chairwoman Nerry A. Sani said on Monday her foundation spent Rp 2 billion (US$222,200) annually promoting a healthy lifestyle and providing care for heart disease sufferers.

Since its establishment 23 years ago, the foundation has channeled donations to 1,679 patients, including children.

The foundation celebrated its 23rd anniversary on Monday. -- JP
